Important Stuff
Here are just a few things to know at the beginning of the year and throughout the year:
Birthday treats: On or near your child's birthday, you may send in a treat for the whole class if you wish. I will pass out the treat at the end of the day. You can send it in with your child or bring it into the school. If you choose to bring it in, you can place it on the cart outside the office and put your child's name and my name on it. I will pick it up after lunch. Please be aware that we are an allergy aware classroom. If you send in a treat, please make sure they are peanut free. Nothing homemade is allowed.
Some options:
Snacks: It is very important that our snacks be peanut free because of the enclosed in nature of the classroom. If your child has a snack that contains peanuts or trace of peanuts it will be sent back home unopened. I cannot and will not risk the safety of another student. Please read labels before sending in snacks with your child. As a reminder...our snack is a working snack. I ask that you make sure it is a healthy snack (no chips, cookies, candy, etc) and one that can be eaten without a utensil. If you would like your child to have chips, cookies, etc. lunch is the time for them to eat these items. Also, snack time will be 5 minutes long. Please send in one snack that your child can eat in this time frame. Also, only water will be allowed in the classroom. If you would like your child to have juice, Gatorade, or any other drink that isn't water, please send that in their lunch box. If you have any questions/concerns about this, please let me know.
Some healthy and safe snacks are:
Transportation Changes: You will complete a transportation form at open house that will tell me how your child will get home each day. If you need to make a change for a certain afternoon, you must put it in writing. You can write the change down in your child's agenda (preferred) on that day or send in a note. If you would like to send an email, you will need to do so before 10 am. After 10 am, please call the front office to let them know of the change.
RAZ-Kids (Kids A-Z): Click here to login into Kids A-Z. The teacher username is kmartin122. Your child will find their name and pick a book to read.
Scholastic books: If you wish to purchase books for your child through Scholastic, the classroom library will get free books!! Click here to go to their website and click on "connect to your teacher." When prompted for the code, enter N9Z2T. All you will need to do is decide on what books you want (using the monthly flyer or by browsing the site), make a payment, and wait for them to be delivered to the classroom. I will send them home with your child once they come in. Orders will be submitted by me once per month, I will communicate what day I will be placing the order and they will arrive within the week. Thank you in advance for your help in enhancing our classroom library.
